Our little copycat

It is well known that kids learn through repetition and we are seeing
that Tristan is definitely a little copycat lately.

He has 2 favorite books right now and he wants to read them
over and over and over again.

One is an alphabet/animal slide book.

I glide my hand through the air when I say "d is for dolphin who swims in the sea" and
then he copies me with his little hand gliding through the air.

I say, "b is for bear, grr!"  he says, "grr".

I say, "m is for monkey, oo oo ah ah", he says "oo oo ah ah".

The other book is called 'Ten Little Ladybugs'
which is very sing songy and repetitious.
He wants to read this one so often that we could probably recite it in our sleep.
We have hidden it several times
and he somehow keeps finding it.  He will spot it on the top of the shelf and
won't stop pleading until we read it again and again.
His favorite page is...
3 little ladybugs drinking up dew...along came a duck, then there were 2.
And he snaps his fingers together to replicate the ducks beak.

Finally there is just 1 ladybug left and he holds out one little finger until mommy
says, "1 little ladybug sitting all alone, along came a breeze then he was home." as I blow
on his little pointed finger and he giggles with delight.

I am writing this in my blog not because I want to brag about how clever my
little boy is becoming but because someday I want to read this when he is grown
taller and bigger than me
and remember how proud I was of his little achievements.

Love Day

Tristan and I had a happy love day.  My sweet little valentine and
I started the day with eggs for breakfast and surprise valentine
toys were waiting for him when he was done.

(the little card says, "We wheelie love you!")

His latest word is "ball."  So this light up ball and car were a hit.

Then we put on our snow pants and went outside to scoop/play in the
new 4 inches of snow we got overnight.
(sorry no pictures)

After that we had fun at lap time at the library.
We sang songs, read books, and made
a valentine for daddy.

Then...lunch and nap.

When he woke up we did a quick paint
project with a toilet paper roll.

Then we were ready to visit our best buds.

Happy valentines day 2014!
