Too cool for the back yard pool

We spent the afternoon after nap time out in our backyard pool.
These first pics were taken when the little guy got out to warm up.
He climbed his cold wet little self unto mommas lap.
What a little ham?!

This is his "Cheeeese" face.  haha

We used the slide for a slip and slide which was super fun!

Gotta love sunshine!

Men, Women, and Children of all Ages

We spent our 7 year anniversary with our best boy at the circus.
I haven't been to a circus since I was
in Kindergarten so I think I was as excited a Tristan was.

We heard a lot of "wow-ies" from this little man.

Tristan chuffed at the tigers and clapped along with the crowd.

The elephants were a hit!!
Tristan raised his arms like an elephant trunk and sayed "Brrrm" repeatedly.

As we celebrate another year as husband and wife we are reminded
of the blessings we have been given and the joy we have received through the years.
Happy Anniversary.  May we always stay young at heart.

The June Floods of 2014

Our tri-state area received brutal amounts of rain
leading to tremendous flooding that had the power to close down interstates,
sweep cars and campers 200 yards into the fields, and crumble foundations.
On the Saturday night before fathers day our town received 5 inches of rain in a short amount of time while the town north of us received 8 inches.
The flash flood was enough to break the damn of our local lake leading to exponential amounts of water down the river and flooding numerous towns to the south of us.

This was all amplified by tornado and thunderstorm warnings and watches.

As we drove around to assess the damage we found our favorite city park 5-6 feet
under water with the levels reaching the top of the slides and roof of the shelter houses.
We saw water that resembled a lake more than a river miles from were it should be.

Our 1950's home was not able to keep all the water out either as we had to roll up carpet
and shop vac for hours and days on end.. (thanks to Luke's mom and dad for aide).

Despite the headache of a little water in our basement we still consider ourselves the lucky ones.
We will remember to June floods of 2014 for a long time.

Dad's day done early

I work next weekend- Father's Day (the story of my life)
So after church and brunch I had a great idea...

why wait to celebrate
when we can celebrate dad today!?!

We started off with a walk to the park.

Then after nap we took a ride out to the state park for a picnic.

Tristan idolizes Luke.  To him he might as well be a superhero,
a celebrity, a crime fighter...
He may as well be Chuck Noris himself...or at least that was the idea behind
his ridiculous father's day gift.

I imagine this is how Luke appears in Tristan's eyes.

Happy Father's Day!  We love you!

Uh-Ohs and Owies

This summer has just gotten started and
already we are all filled up with "uh oh's" and "owies".
For every scrape and boo boo is a kiss and snuggle followed
by 2 weeks of pointing and pity.

This is how our conversations have been lately...

Tristan:  "Mom owie owie" (gesturing to scraped knee)
Me:  "Yes Tristan, you have an owie but its all better now."
Tristan: "Owie Owie"
Me: "I know"
Tristan: "I know"  "I know"

and so it goes.

But this little boy won't let a couple of uh-ohs and owies stand
in his way of playing and playing hard
(even if we do have to talk about
every boo boo for 2 weeks)
